USMCA National Circuit

Top scoring teams in each USMCA Partner Competition earn points in the USMCA National Circuit. At the end of the academic year, these points determine qualification for the USMCA National Championship. However, for the 2020-21 academic year only, all teams finishing in the top 15 of any partner contest will qualify for the USMCA National Championship, regardless of their circuit point total.

Circuit Points

At each USMCA Partner Competition, the top scoring 20 teams are awarded Circuit Points. In competitions with multiple divisions, teams in the 'A' division are eligible for Circuit Points. The Circuit Points awarded are as follows.

Circuit Rankings

A team's overall score in the USMCA National Circuit is the sum of:

  • ◦  Their highest point award;
  • ◦  40% of their second highest point award;
  • ◦  10% of their third highest point award.
For example, a team earning point awards of 85 and 50, in any order, obtains a total score of 85 + 0.4 • 50 = 105.

Ties in the National Circuit are broken by best absolute rank at any USMCA Partner Competition; remaining ties are broken by second-best absolute rank at any USMCA Partner Competition, and so forth.
